The growth of news automation could be seen on three ways among journalists: those who are afraid to lose their job, those who are optimistic due to the possibilities that automation can give them for doing a better job, and those who believe that automation will destroy jobs but will also create new ones. This presentation made in Lisbon at the workshop Robot journalism. Should we be afraid, organized by the European Federation of journalists », presents a state of art, between prospective studies about the expected impacts on employments and new possibilities given to journalists. But if it is impossible to compete with machines, that will always be faster than a human being can be, how can we make them allies and run together for the sake of journalism?
